Historical Museum, Melnik

In the Historical Museum of the town of Melnik you can see an interesting exposition and learn interesting facts about the history, the culture and the everyday life of the settlement and also about the main vocation of the people in this region - the wine production.

Presented are rich collections of ancient coins, found in the region. Some of them date back to the 4th century BC, during the time of Philip II Makedonski /ruled 359-336 BC/, to the Roman Empire, to the Middle Ages, etc. In the museum are also presented tombstones from the Antiquity, old weapons, paintings and books, household fabrics and clothes from more than a century ago, the arrangement of the housing and others. In a special corner is presented the urban life and culture of some rich families in Melnik during the Renaissance.

The museum is an affiliate of the Historical museum in the town of Sandanski and is among the 100 national tourist sites.
