Botanical Garden of BAS, Sofia

At the Botanical Garden of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in the city of Sofia one can enjoy a pleasant walk amongst beauty and greenery at any time of the year.

Here can be seen more than 4,500 types of plants, located in a few greenhouses and a park. Most interesting and attractive for the visitors are the different types of cactuses and succulents, the orchids, the thematic expositions of flowers,the blooming bushes,the rock gardens,the odorous and healing plants, a selection of lilacs, a rosarium with more than 100 kinds of roses, a selection of 2,300 types of tropical and subtropical plants, etc. The Botanical Garden of BAS, actually, has the richest, open-to-the-public selection of flowers in the Balkans. Here can be found thousands of kinds of plants from every continent, among which, also can be found a variety of ornamental plants such as exotic American fuschia, Japanese azaleas, camelli, and many more.

The Botanical Garden is one of the most enjoyable an visited “green” places in the capital.
